Yeti Farm Creative

A couple of weeks ago my 2D animation class had a tour of Yeti Farm Creative Studios here in Kelowna, BC. As well had one of the founders, Ashley Ramsay, come in and speak to us. The studio has such a great atmosphere, filled with busy animators  working to meet their deadlines. It was great to look over the animators shoulders and get a glimpse of shows they are working on. It is an atmosphere I hope to be in, in less than a year. They started out as a small company and are rapidly expanding, which is such awesome news for the Okanagan. Pirate Express and Rocket Monkeys are just a few of the projects the have on the go. We will be starting to learn to work in Harmony in a few months, and it was great to see the program being used in Pirate Express.
Ashley Ramsay coming in was great. She had alot of advice and knowledge about what is takes to be in the animation industry. The company is really geared towards helping inspiring animators get into the animation industry.  They even have the Yeti Lab where all the animators get together and if they have ideas to pitch of there own, they can be heard and if lucky enough, launched. I thought that was pretty cool.Ashley had said, "Never let the drive to be an animator go", and to always "keep working" which is always a boost to hear when in this industry. It can be a tough industry and discouraging at times, so it's good to hear such positivity from someone that has been in the industry for years. She had described the animation industry in 6 ways: HARD WORK, DEDICATION, LONG HOURS, LATE NIGHTS, QUOTA, REPEAT, which is what is takes.
Getting these opportunities to tour studios and talking to professionals only builds on my drive to get into the animation industry.

Introducing Me

My name is Jenisa Carbert and my biggest passion throughout life has been a constant one, CARTOONS! I have been watching them and drawing them since I was a little girl. Copying style after style until finally finding my own. I draw inspiration from the people around me or the strangers I see. My family is a huge inspiration as you may come to see......I am currently enrolled in the 2D Animation course @ The Center For Arts and Technology, and with a few weeks to go, almost finished my first quarter of four! This blog is to share my work/journey from school to a career in the animation industry!
